A very good friend told me the real definition of F.E.A.R. - False Evidence that Appears to be Real.

Stop with the negative thoughts.
Look at your goal
Decide what you need to do

Kudos to all CrossFitters - you all rock!

Great blog post Annie! I too get discouraged when I don't feel like I'm performing the way I feel I should...but it's half the battle to just show up. I think my biggest fear is reverting back to the unhappy/unhealthy person that I used to be...even though I know I'll never let that happen.

This may sound silly but my biggest fear is that I'll be disappointed in myself! I have love/hate relationship with some of the WODs but I can usually push through. But....I do have mental blocks sometimes! For those of you that know me, I'm always looking for ways to improve whether it be mentally, form, or how to get faster....my main focus for the past couple of months has been strength. So when I'm close to being one of the last ones to finish, I use to be a little disappointed feeling I could do better...BUT I learned to turn that "fear" into a positive (you didn't think I wouldn't look for a way to improve my mental state, did you? LOL!) and now I try to concentrate on where I'm improving. If I'm not seeing any improvement, then I bump up weights or I do exercises to help build strength at home. This has helped me realize that if I want to continue to get better, then I need to concentrate on things like bumping up weight and staying with it throughout the workout, trying the band-assisted pushups, etc... so my time will be sacraficed some and I'm starting to be ok with that now even though it took me a while to get to accept that!

It takes less effort to focus on the positives!!

My fear... finishing last. It's sad that sometimes I think "I'd rather DNF than post the lowest time." Seriously, who the hell thinks that during a crossfit WOD?! I have to remind myself over and over, in order to get through this fear, that at least I had the courage to walk through the door... who cares if I finish last - I showed and I finished, and that's more than most can say!!

wow! This speaks: "There is no better feeling in the world than conquering your fears..." Wow!

My fears are each and every CF workout- not knowing and the nerves of that unknown and the fear that I won't be able to do it. But I feel so accomplished, great and empowered each time I finish- each time I conquer.

O and I fear that someday the WOD will be just wall balls...lots and lots of wall balls.. :) WELL WRITTEN ANNIE!!!
