Got Resolutions Yet…

img_0466

In the spirit of closing out the year of 2009 lets start setting the good ol’ New Years Resolutions.

What is a New Years Resolution?

The definition is wikipedia: “A New Year’s resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or the reforming of a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous.”

In the United States, popular goals include:
Lose weight
Get out of debt
Become more organized
Maintain a diary
Save money
Improve grades
Get a better job
Get fit
Eat right
Get a better education
Drink less alcohol
Quit smoking
Reduce stress
Take a trip
Volunteer to help others
Be less grumpy
Be more independent
Learn something new (such as a foreign language or music)
Try to get up early in the morning
Time management
Help the poor

What about the success rate?

Recent research shows that while 52% of participants in a resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals. Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, a system where small measurable goals are used (lose a pound a week, instead of saying “lose weight”), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends.

So let’s here it guys. Post 3 to 5 (minimum) New Year’s Resolutions. And let’s all hit them TOGETHER!

  1. I’m gonna call these “goals” instead “resolutions”. These are relatively easy goals to accomplish that will help me achieve my bigger long-term goals.

    1. Continue low-carb Paleo diet.
    2. Develope a budget (Done!) and stick to it. This includes spending money more wisely and finding ways to save money on the purchases that I absolutely have to make (like food).
    3. Make sure I make Crossfit classes 5 days a week, no matter what.

If I follow through on the above goals, the next ones should take care of themselves:

    1. Lean out
    2. Purchase a new vehicle.
    3. Increase overall gym performance.

  2. 2009 was the year of resolutions/goals and I was fortunate to find CFSF to help me achieve nearly all of them (December’s goal was a bit of a stretch). For 2010 my goals/resolutions will be much of a continuation of last year, but with a bit umph added.

    1. Get to the gym & work my tail off (literally – it’s getting there, but still has a ways to go. ).
    2. Eat right. I would like to stick to paleo as much as possible but know that it can be tough. I just need to plan & prepare – I truly think that is key with paleo!)
    3. Bikini Summer 2010!! LOTS of sittups and squats outside of my time at the gym!!!
    4. Continue to instill healthy values in my child. (I think this will probably be a back and forth thing, a lot of times he keeps me in check!)
    5. Continue to be strong in my faith and in my relationship with God. Ultimately the above goals/resolutions are not something I can accomplish without Him!
    6. CF Gymnastics Cert – I WILL GO!!

  3. 1) Do an unassisted pull-up.
    2) Make it to CF 4-5 times a week.
    3) Follow through with cutting sweets out of my life (day 3 already!).
    4) Master doubleunders, I am tired of looking like a whipping boy after doing them!
These goals wouldn’t have even been a thought in my head last year. I have come a long way in my ability and thinking just in the past three months and am excited for what 2010 bings!

  4. Jody Gilbertson Says:

    1. No more sugar.
    2. Give every workout my all.
    3. Be in the the best shape I have ever been in before the big 40.
    4. Drive the speed limit.
    5. Be grateful and thank God for every day.

  5. Korena Chester Says:

    1. Continue working on improving in the workouts. This includes but is not limited to when I feel like I can’t give any more, push through use that energy to finish the workout strong! So trainers…..keep saying my name, baby! You are my adrenaline when I think I can’t go on!!
    3. Eat even better. The Paleo challenge will help get me back on track! PPE: Plan, Prepare, Enjoy!
    4. Tone, tone tone! I want my muscles to “pop” but in a good way! πŸ™‚ I’m hopefully done with injuries!
    5. Stretch before and after every workout to help prevent injury….my body isn’t as young as it use to be!
    6. Unassisted pullups….still working towards that and still inching closer and closer!
    7. Crossfit FT….already starting to cut out extra activities so I can move closer towards this goal.
    8. Do more with music type of stuff: singing, piano, keyboard, etc.. to places like the nursing homes, assisted living, etc..
    9. LEARN TO LUV RUNNING!!!!!! πŸ™‚
