CrossFit Poetry at it’s Finest

This is my gym.

These bars are my bars. When I put more bumpers on the ends, I get stronger. But when I take heavy weight off, I can go faster.

These rings are my rings. When I am strong, I can hold my arms out farther and test my strength. But when I am weaker, I draw everything close and just hang on.

This iron is my iron. The weight I try to lift in this life. It hurts me but it makes me grow. I’m stronger now than I was a week ago, a month ago, a year ago, a decade ago. And I’m only getting stronger.

Does that scare you? It should. My power is legendary, my strength is inspiring, my life is a testimony to the heart that beats so strong in me and the soul that goes so deep.

I am a CrossFitter. And this is my gym.

Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it will achieve. Dream great dreams and make them come true. Do it now!

You are unique. In all the history of the world there was never anyone else exactly like you, and in all the infinity to come there will never be another you. Never affirm self-limitations. What you believe yourself to be, you are.

To accomplish great things, you must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost – put foundations under them. Yes you can. Believing is magic, you can always better your best. You don’t know what you can do until you try.

Nothing will come of nothing. If you don’t go out on a limb, you’re never going to get the fruit. There is no failure except in no longer trying. Hazy goals produce hazy results. Clearly define your goals. Write them down, make a plan for achieving them, set a deadline, visualize the results and go after them. Just don’t look back unless you want to go that way.

Defeat may test you; it need not stop you. If at first you don’t succeed, try another way. For every obstacle there is a solution. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. The greatest mistake is giving up. Wishing will not bring success, but planning, persistence and burning desire will.

There is a gold mine within you from which you can extract all the necessary ingredients. Success is an attitude. Get yours right. It is astonishing how short a time it takes for very wonderful things to happen.

  3. I love this poem! so good!!!!

    Thanks for posting it 🙂

  4. This poem is based on my living with a Sioux Falls Crossfitter.

    ————-

    This is my gym.

A big open room full of space.
    Space that comes alive,
    when active people, loud music,
hard work and sweat become one.

    This is my gym.

    One with workouts.
    Workouts that show no mercy.
Workouts with blood, sweat, and pain.
    Workouts that challenge the best.
Workouts that develop pride in self.
Workouts that over time develop character.
    Workouts that make you strong.

    This is my gym.

It is complex in its simplicity.
Easy to mistake for some other workout,
It cannot be done on a DVD.
It is extremely hard to do alone,
    which creates strong human bonds.
It feeds your body with excitement,
that you want to share with others.
It becomes a part of you,
more a lifestyle than just a workout.
    Misunderstood by many
    who have never experienced it,
life changing for those who embrace.

    This is my gym.

    One filled with people.
    People who build you up.
    People who yell encouragement.
People who are motivated to be better,
and are not afraid to make it happen.
    People who are physically strong,
    and mentally stronger.
    People not just living,
    but Alive,
    Thriving!

And, how do I know all of this?
    I have seen it firsthand,
    with my own eyes.
    Watching as a body transformed,
    as self confidence exploded,
as new dreams and aspirations arose,
    as deep friendships developed,
    as one amazing person
    became even better.

    Anything Is Possible
    by Melissa Underwood

Anything is possible, if you think it is worthwhile,
If you’re willing to go the distance, to go the extra mile.
With determination and effort, you can often achieve more,
Because you don’t always get what you wish, but what you work for.
Dreams can become challenging, but no matter what the cost,
Strive to complete the task before you, and you’ll never end up lost.
So bring with you your goals, and leave your doubts behind,
Whether you think you can or can’t, you certainly will find.
You’ll be right either way — so never quit, and this is why:
You’ll never become a failure, until you fail to try.

“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-disipline, and effort.” -Jesse Owens

“It is your attitude at the beginning of a task that determines success or failure.” -Corrine Clewlow

“The more effort you put into something, the more you get in return.”
    -Dwight Rivera

  6. “A champion, when he fell, always got back up and tried even harder. He slowed down over the speed bumps and hit a pothold now and then, but each time, he kept going. He didn’t care how bad it hurt or hard he had to try. Others, on the other hand, when they fell, stayed there. Maybe tried to get up and kept falling and didn’t try to get up anymore. Stopped at the speed bumps and fell into the potholes. Quit when he hurt and was tired. If you want to be a champion, try and try again. Never let your hopes slip out of your hands.” ~ Jessy Oho ~
