One Day at a Time at CrossFit Sioux Falls

Chris, Michelle and I were filing through some old pictures from the blog. It’s crazy to compare the way people have changed from a year ago, or even just this past fall. Not just in appearance and level of fitness, but also the person as a whole.

This made me think, huge changes like these are so noticeable comparing now with a year ago. What about all of the hard work and discipline (and personal change) that took place between point A and B? It’s so easy for us to think that our goals will happen immediately if we work hard. The hard truth is that any goal or any worthwhile thing we pursue can only happen one way; one day at a time.

Habits (good or bad) aren’t built in a day, but actually several days of the same, consistent action. Weight loss doesn’t happen in a week, it happens in weeks and months. Gains in strength, flexibility, [insert weakness or goal here]; they all take consistency, time, and progression. Every gain you want to make or goal you want to achieve takes time.

When you get discouraged, remember this. Tomorrow is another day, come back and keep working hard; one day at a time.
Don’t talk about It be about It,

  1. “Don’t talk about it be about it”, i think i will adopt that as my mantra…thanks Casey, I needed this blog, as I have been a bit down this week, feeling sorry for myself and somehow this reached me, and inspired me….thanks!!! See you all soon!!!

  2. You got it!

PS. I’ve already adopted the mantra, but you’re cool, so I suppose we can share. Ha!

    Great post!

  4. Great blog!
I was just out with a friend, I was talking about how I feel along with the weight loss and body changes. Said if someone would have told me a year ago this is where I would be I would have had a hard time believing it. And here I am, getting stronger all the time and feeling great.
    I think it’s all …amazing!

Thanks Casey and my CF team! :0)

Loved this post – AND the mantra.

It’s true; this kind of commitment, dedication and WORK changes the WHOLE person. (Ya’ll should have people guest-post about their experiences, and the changes they’ve seen, through Crossfit! I’d love to hear some tales…)

  6. GREAT post, Casey! The “one day at a time” mantra has gotten me through some of the most difficult moments of my life, and I believe fully in it! When I look back at those times, I know the struggle was worth it, even though the pain and difficulty seemed insurmountable at the time. It’s all about perspective, the kind that only time can provide! Even now, some days I find it hard to get up at 5am knowing that I can’t push myself as hard as I used to, but just being at CrossFit with all of you makes my day and makes it worth it! (And so does knowing that in a mere 5.5 months, I’ll be right back at it 100%!)

Wow! I needed this today – I’ve just started really taking advantage of the blog and have found some great stuff here! All day I’ve been wondering when I would start to see the “big changes” I’ve been hoping for and wishing I could post on the “pants falling off” area. I have to say, this post put it all back into perspective for me and it reminded me – that I’m working hard and I didn’t get to this shape overnight – so I will need to try and be patient. Thanks Casey and everyone at CF for all you do!!
